Effingham Elementary School is a school wide Title I school. Title I is a federally funded program designed to help educationally disadvantaged children meet challenging content and performance standards. The program was initially authorized in 1965 under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act and was most recently reauthorized under the Every Student Succeeds Act of 2016. Through Title I, students receive instructional support in the classroom or in other areas of the school building as appropriate. Classroom teachers, special education staff and Title I staff work collaboratively to coordinate support services for students. Title I funds may also be used to provide support to students before or after school or during the summer months.
All staff at Effingham Elementary School are highly qualified under the Every Student Succeeds Act of 2016. Title I funds currently support one part time professional and two part time paraprofessionals at EES.
Parent involvement in education is a very important part of Title I. In order to help parents work with their children at home, Title I funds are used to support educational events for parents and families.
